“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” – Fred Rogers
Not pictured in our summer school curriculum: swim, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood marathons, weekly movies, lunch with Daddy, making jello, crafting, and going on playdates. We love summer!
Love you guys!!!! Your cousins have been asking about you. Have to get together soon!
Thanks Rachael! Perhaps we could plan a back to school get together!
Never stop learning and never stop having that childlike nature enjoying lots of play and fun. A philosophy that has served me well. But it would be awesome to have an entire summer off to do it! Looks like everyone is having a blast 🙂
Thanks Camilla! I sure love the summertime with my kiddos. I’m dreading the beginning of school again, although it does bring its own kind of fun!
That sounds exactly like what summer should be. I interviewed an elementary school principal for a story about the summer slide and she said one of the most beneficial and educational things kids need over the summer is unstructured play time. She was right in line with Mr. Rogers. Great quote!
Thank you! We are purposeful in the activities we do but also allowing “boredom” which leads to creative play!
